Gile Tract Affordable Housing, Hanover, NH

The Gile Tract Affordable Housing project, a Planned Residential Development, is the result of a complex public-private partnership to be located on a difficult site to serve a vital community need.

This innovative project required public consensus to accommodate the proposed one hundred twenty units of housing in twelve multi-story buildings, revitalizing a property that was previously used for the Town of Hanover Landfill. Teaming with Saucier + Flynn, Ltd. and Gossens Bachman Architects, our personnel facilitated intermunicipal agreements, careful siting of units and roads to preserve natural resources such as wetland and ledge faces (Low Impact Design), design the construction of wetlands to process stormwater discharge, and management of project costs. Additionally, an eleven acre parcel will be preserved out to relocate the Dartmouth College recycling facility and maintenance yard, reusing existing amenities.

Led by the developer, Twin Pines Housing Trust, this project involved many supporters, including the Hartland Group, the Upper Valley Housing Coalition, the Hanover Affordable Housing Committee, the New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority, the Town of Hanover, and Dartmouth Hitchcock Memorial Hospital.

The project is currently under construction. At this time, our personnel assist with construction, reusing materials for planned fills, small retaining walls, and gabion walls from on-site materials.
