Shaw's Powerhouse Plaza, West Lebanon, New Hampshire
The Shaw's Powerhouse Plaza project was an opportunity to combine multiple
private properties together to create a retail complex, anchoring the
so-called "North End" of the Route 12A commercial corridor.
In addition to various design and construction assistance for the Shaw's
Powerhouse Plaza, a unique aspect of the project was the design of a mitigation
site on the Mascoma River. Our personnel assisted with permitting and
construction assistance of the elimination of a 1.36-acre oxbow from the
relocated Mascoma River, to then create a mitigation site at the confluence
of the Mascoma River and the Connecticut River on public lands. Following
project completion, the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services
(NHDES) described this as one of the first functional mitigation sites
at the time.
Today this eighty thousand square foot retail complex includes an array
of commercial interests and activities, connected by the Benning Street
access road from properties south of the plaza to Route 12A, all anchored
by the Shaw's supermarket.
